The power of a point of view.
It’s not the actual point of view that has power, it’s the commitment to having a point of view, for taking a stand, for having an opinion.
I recently was reintroduced to a powerful word that has been making me think a lot lately, Assertion. It’s defined as, “a confident and forceful statement of fact or belief.”
What’s difficult about assertions is that we could be wrong. Funny enough, notice how I instinctively went to the negative side first, being wrong. But obviously there are always at least 2 outcomes, what if I’m right? Either way, it’s about deciding to be on one side of the fence about actively choosing something and not choosing another.
And aren’t those the stories, films, people we gravitate more towards? Those that have a “voice”, “POV”, “assertion”.
