Better Questions

Want better answers? Ask better questions.

This struck a chord in me when I first read it and it still influences me daily.

I often revisit this concept in the middle of meetings, interviews and exchanges with my son, when I’m not getting the answers that I’m looking for. And in a moment of self awareness it becomes clear that maybe the problem isn’t their answer, maybe it’s the questions I’m asking.

Or sometimes the questions we ask have no clear answers. So keep trying. Not in an annoying asking the exact same question sort of way. But in an iterative, constantly improving, constantly getting closer to the target and readjusting sort of way.

Better answers come from better questions.
